Kings Of Indigo

Kings Of Indigo

Kings of Indigo (K.O.I) makes quality denims, tops and accessories inspired by American classics with a Japanese eye for detail; All Kings of Indigo items are designed to last long, quality wear for the next era. Every garment is made with a conscience; the Kings use innovative and sustainable production techniques where they can.

Innovation in fabrics

Kings of Indigo's  collection is mainly made from environmentally preferred fibres such as recycled or organic cotton and processed in a sustainable way. Over 90% of raw materials  is sustainable.
The organic cotton we use is GOTS certified, top notch material. The denim fabrics containing cotton are GOTS certified (if not, it contains linen or tencel) and our tees and sweats are GOTS certified.
Most of fabrics used in our woven tops are with organic cotton (GOTS certified), linen or tencel.
We don’t use any of the chemicals mentioned on the REACH list in our production, which means amongst others no chlorobenzenes, azo dyes or heavy metals
To guarantee quality, the organic cotton is processed in the best denim mills. Result is a fresh organic concept for your favorite garments. Quality wear for the next era.

Recycling

K.O.I uses recycled yarns as much as possible. There is so much waste in clothing, so why not re-use the basic material and make new garments  out of left over fabric and old garments?
First we cut old fabrics and clippings into fibers. Then we spin these fibers into yarns, and finally these yarns are woven into fresh new fabric for our denims and tops.
This process saves lots of chemicals and water used to grow new cotton. The recycling process isn’t limited to the garments, all Kings of Indigo packaging is made from the best recycled material or bio degradable materials.
This makes your new K.O.I purchase feel just that bit better. Also all energy used at the HQ and warehouse is generated by solar panels on the roof.

Innovation in production

The Kings use innovative and sustainable production methods, such low impact washes and natural dye techniques, where possible.
The Kings promote low impact washes with Kings of Laundry, where laser and ozone is used to substitute stonewash and bleach.
K.O.I NEVER uses sandblasting. Kings of Indigo products are sold and produced as close to home as possible and are preferably shipped by truck.
K.O.I offers no company cars to staff, traveling by train is preferred. The Kings source their denim fabrics from Italy (Candiani) and Turkey (Orta, Calik, ISKO), and a very small percentage from Japan (Collect).
The denims are stitched in our stitching factory in Tunisia (Artlab), washing and finishing is done in Italy (Elleti, Martelli) and Tunisia (Interwashing).
Kings of Indigo likes to say the denims are made in the Mediterranean. Leather goods are made in the Netherlands (Arti) and tops and apparel in Turkey (Konnekt, Avelice, Karadag), Italy (Salgari) and Greece New power).
Our sole factory in India (Indy Blue) is where we produce our natural indigo items. This is where the indigo originates and where the dipping is done with passion for the product. Check out the map below.

Fair wear foundation

Kings of Indigo has a goal; to make quality products where the quality goes beyond the product itself.
Quality of work environment is just as important. Kings of Indigo cares about the people who make those great garments.
To help you measure the engagement, Kings of Indigo is a member of the Fair wear Foundation. Their mission is to improve labor standards in the clothing industry.
FWF is a verification initiative to enhance the quality of life for workers all over the world. 10% of the production is made in low-risk countries.
The production in Tunisia is fully audited by FWF, as is the sole factory in India.
This results in the fact that for 95% of our total production volume the manufacturers are monitored for labour conditions and approved as socially compliant by FWF. The last 5% will be audited in 2016.
